"The Attributes of God" (Seminar) contextualizes Abdullah bin Hamid Ali's thoroughly researched work on Islamic speculative theology entitled "The Attributes of God" (Amalpress). The Attributes of God is a translation of Ibn Jawzi's original work Daf' Shubah al-Tashbih bi Akaff al-Tanzih (Dispelling the Doubts of Anthropomorphism with the most Repelling Exoneration) along with commentary and notes from the late Shaykh Muhammad Zahid al-Kawthari, and special appendices by Abdullah bin Hamid Ali. Among the topics covered in this seminar are: the rules of scriptural interpretation; the difference in interpretative approaches between the Salaf and Khalaf, the errors of literalists and their opposition to ta'will (figurative interpretation) with a focus on directing our attention to more pressing contemporary issues. It also includes answers to a number of questions which directly address some of the arguments which occur in our communities.
